On Sunday 29th October we will be going on a nature walk with experts from the Bristol Naturalists Society. It will be and fuan and informal afternoon walk around the woodland with the chance to ask questions about the flora and fauna and learn from experienced naturalists. We might even round off the day with a picnic; check out the Facebook event for updates.

The BUCG Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 7th May from 6pm at The Kings Arms. This is your chance to have a say in what goes on in the society, and potentially become a part of running it.
Being a part of the committee is a great way to get more involved and have loads of fun, as well as boost your CV, especially if you’re thinking of going into a career in environmental work. Even if you do not want to stand for a position, come along to vote and chat.
If you would like to run for a comittee position you can email Ollie or stand for it on the day. I you would like to make any admendments to the consitution please send them to Ollie by Wednesday 3rd May.
Why not head outdoors to enjoy the beautiful springtime to ease the stress from exams and coursework?
As part of the Mind Your Head campaign we are heading to Providence Plantation on Sunday 30th April to clear and seed the wildflower meadow. As this is about de-stressing if you do not feel like doing much then do not worry, the picnic bench will be covered in drawing and colouring materials, and will be a quiet space for anyone to go at any time and you can just stop to admire the woodland.

On Saturday 1st April we are heading to the The Community Farm – a community-owned social enterprise based at their organic farm near Chew Magna. They are wildlife-friendly and have organised a day of volunteering activities for us. Currently uncertain what we will be doing exactly but it may involve growing things, bit of a change from our usual hacking and slashing!

We will be returning to Providence Plantation on Sunday 19th February. The plan is to finish preparing the butterfly glade to be seeded with wildflowers in April. This will involve some dead hedging, root removal, and possibly scrub bashing if there are enough of us.

We will be leaving Bristol at around 9:45am, returning at around 4-5pm and possibly going to the pub afterwards.
To start the term off we will be going back to the university’s own woodland, Providence Plantation, on Sunday 5th February. We will be doing some more scrub bashing, path clearance and hopefully some dead hedging to mark out the paths more clearly.
