It is a lovely mixed woodland site with a limestone grassland in the middle. We will be doing some scrub clearance then burning all the material on a bonfire (perfect for toasting plenty of marshmallows and donuts).

On Sunday 15th November we will be going to Leigh Woods to fell some trees. National Trust ranger Bill will be guiding us to clear the trees along a footpath. This will allow light to reach the forest floor creating a more diverse habitat. We will also make a bonfire from the wood we have cut. This is one of the best trips of the year as felling trees is very satisfying, plus we get to burn stuff!
We are expecting to be out from 10am to 4pm and the head to a pub afterwards. If you would like place on the trip please email Emily by 5pm Wednesday 11th November. (Please note that this trip is only open to members.)
Update: On the last trip before the AGM we cleared plenty of brambles and buddleja which fuelled our first bonfire at Providence upon which marshmallows were toasted. The summery weather fortunately decided to stay around for the trip.

Update: The weather was bright and clear but chilly however we soon warmed up once we got to work felling trees complete with impressive falling tree sounds. Working on the muddy slopes could be tricky at times but by the end of the day we had cleared a good area and amounted impressive piles of wood. We enjoyed toasting marshmallow on the bonfire and headed to the pub afterwards. Definitely a great trip.
