The first proper conservation trips of the year are open to non-members and members alike. This is a great way to find out first-hand more about what we do if you are considering joining. These taster trips to Providence Plantation – a piece of university-owned woodland near Long Ashton to the west of the city.
The management of Providence Plantation is an ongoing, long-term project with which BUCG is heavily involved. We aim to improve the biodiversity of the site while allowing the public to enjoy the wood.
Tasks for the day will most likely include: bramble removal, butterfly glade construction, path maintenance and coppicing.
These taster trips will take place on Sunday 5th October, 10am-4pm and Wednesday 8th October, 1-5pm. If you want to attend one of these days please email Jess by 5pm on Friday 3rd October or Sunday 5th October respectively.
We will meet at Bristol Bus Station and travel by bus to the wood. So unless you are making your own way there by bike be sure to bring money for the bus fare. A student day ticket is £2.80 (£4 without discount). The event itself is free.
Update: We met lots of potential new members (as well as some familiar faces) at the Welcome Fair. Plenty of interested people signed up to the mailing list. We hope to see you all at future events.
