On Thursday 9th November we will holding a (belated) Bonfire Night social at Providence Plantation. We will unleash our inner pyromaniacs, eat marshmallows and play games. Should it rain we will go to a nearby pub and rescheduel the bonfire. We will be taking the 7pm bus from the Bus Station.

Why not head outdoors to enjoy the beautiful springtime to ease the stress from exams and coursework?
As part of the Mind Your Head campaign we are heading to Providence Plantation on Sunday 30th April to clear and seed the wildflower meadow. As this is about de-stressing if you do not feel like doing much then do not worry, the picnic bench will be covered in drawing and colouring materials, and will be a quiet space for anyone to go at any time and you can just stop to admire the woodland.

We will be returning to Providence Plantation on Sunday 19th February. The plan is to finish preparing the butterfly glade to be seeded with wildflowers in April. This will involve some dead hedging, root removal, and possibly scrub bashing if there are enough of us.

We will be leaving Bristol at around 9:45am, returning at around 4-5pm and possibly going to the pub afterwards.
To start the term off we will be going back to the university’s own woodland, Providence Plantation, on Sunday 5th February. We will be doing some more scrub bashing, path clearance and hopefully some dead hedging to mark out the paths more clearly.

Update: Congratulations to Louise was was voted in as our new Providence Plantation officer!
On Wednesday 23rd November we will be holding an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to elect our new Providence Plantation officer. This will take place at The Kings Arms on Whiteladies Road at 7pm.
The role is in being in charge of directing the management of Providence Platation – the piece of university owned woodland near Long Ashton that we look after. This involves planning the work we do there and liaising with the university where necessary to form an action plan. Also, as part of the committee and get to have a say in the running of BUCG. If you would like to run for the position please email Ollie by 11pm on Tuesday 22nd November.
Guaranteed to be far more cheerful than certain other recent elections, these meetings are very relaxed affairs open to all members. Come cast your vote and have a chat.
On Sunday 2nd and 9th October we will be having free taster trips to Providence Plantation. Providence Plantation is a piece of University-owned woodland by Long Ashton that BUCG helps manage. We will be cutting back brambles to keep pathways and butterfly glades clear.
You do not have to be a member to come along and the bus fair will be subsidised. Places are limited to if you do want to come along please email Ollie by 12pm on Wednesday 28th September.
On Sunday 6th December we will be continuing the scrub clearance and upkeep at Providence Plantation out at Long Ashton. We’ll be getting the bus from Bristol Bus Station at around 9:30am and aiming to be back by 4pm.
Providence Plantation is a piece of woodland owned by Bristol University and is an ongoing project for BUCG. We aim to improving the biodiversity and pathways of the wood. It’s great fun out in the fresh air and, as always, no prior experience is needed.
