Update: This was probably the best trip of the year so far with good (albeit slightly chilly) weather. Felling trees was especially satisfying and we cut a good number of them down. The bonfire provided welcome warmth to hold the winter’s chill at bay as well the opportunity to toast marshmallows.
On Sunday 16th November (meeting at 9:30am on the Clifton side of the Clifton Suspension Bridge) we will be going on a trip to Leigh Woods. There we shall clear an area of woodland along the footpath in Nightingale Valley. This footpath becomes muddy in wet weather; opening up this area will allow more light into the floor of the valley and help to dry the path. The open space created will also diversify the structure of the woodland.
Be sure to take with you the following:
- Walking boots or wellies
- Waterproof coat
- Warm clothing (that you don’t mind getting muddy)
- Packed lunch
- Water
- Mug for hot drinks
- Money for the pub.
All tools, gloves, hot drinks and biscuits will be supplied. We will finish at about 3:30pm. Afterwards we shall head to a pub in Clifton.
Since we will be walking to Leigh woods so the trip is free though you must be a member in order to attend (you can join at our UBU page – it’s only £5 for the year). Places are fully booked (though emails will be sent out should any become available).
